Miracle in Cell No. 7
A tragicomedy drama movie from 2013 in South Korea, Miracle in Cell No. 7 features Ryu Seung-Yong, Kal So-won, and Park Shin-hye. In the movie, a developmentally handicapped man who was wrongly convicted of murder forges bonds with the hardcore criminals who share his cell and they in turn let him see his daughter again by sneaking her into the jail.
The film is based on the true account of a man who, after being tortured, confessed under pressure to the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl in Chuncheon on September 27, 1972, until being eventually cleared of all charges in November 2008.
A father who is mentally challenged raises his daughter with love and devotion. He unintentionally contributes to a child's death and is subsequently detained on trumped-up allegations of rape and murder. He ends himself in cell room number 7, where he meets five other prisoners who assist him in getting back in touch with his daughter.
He made acquaintances with other prisoners here. Although it's against the rules for family members to visit prisoners, the convicts came up with a strategy to bring the father's little daughter to the facility since he misses and worries about her. She is a brilliant, intelligent, incredibly loved, and courteous youngster, in contrast to her father. The days in the jail are nicer and brighter because of her. From this point on, the humorous incidents occurred, but by the time the audience viewed the entire movie, even the hardest person was unable to control their emotions.
