Moscow Zoo – Among The Oldest European Zoos
Moscow Zoo is a 21.5-hectare zoo, founded in 1864 by professor and biologist K.F. Rulier, S.A. Usov and A.P. Bogdanov of Moscow State University. The zoo studies animal's behavior, feeding and reproduction, and breeds rare endangered species.
One of the oldest zoos in Europe and the largest in Russia, with 6,000 animals, Moscow Zoo is an outstanding example of its development over time. This is one of the largest zoos in the world! After renovations in the 1990s, the zoo expanded its grounds to include a separate aquarium and sea lion exhibit space.
