Arrive early for lunch to grab a table on the little harbourside veranda — the most atmospheric eating in town. The Madang Ocean Restaurant offers great ocean views and delicious food. The menu is dominated by Chinese food, with a few standout Filipino specialties and a mix of Western pub fare thrown in for good measure. Lunch specials range from K16 to K38 and come from either the Chinese or Western menus. Arrive early to ensure a table with a view of the ocean.


The Madang Club is right next door; you must be a member or be signed in by one, but a little bravado typically gets you past security to the Friday quiz night. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 11 am to 2 pm; 6 pm to 10 pm.
