The Department of Veterinary Sciences at Osaka University includes specialists in veterinary education, the attitudes and skills that can integrate expertise and skills in applied animal science, experts who can contribute to animal diagnosis and treatment and public health, and international experts who can demonstrate innovative leadership in the field of biomedical life. It aims to nurture fields related to animals and humans.
From April 2009, the Department of Veterinary Medicine has moved to the new Rinku Campus located on the beach opposite Kansai International Airport. On this new campus, the Veterinary Center and Laboratory Animal Training and Research Center are housed in the Department's Teaching and Research Building. The department implements an improved program for staff development in a new base equipped with the latest teaching and research equipment.
