Since Kelly Slater is the best surfer of all time and has been the face of the enduring surf company Quiksilver for a long time, practically anything he does attracts the most attention. As a result, the entire surf community was abuzz when Slater revealed that he was quitting Quik and launching his own brand. The next year, Slater introduced Outerknown, a project with well-known designer John Moore that places an emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Outerknown is a higher-end fashion label that sets itself apart from conventional surf companies through its ethos, level of quality, and price range. It uses fabrics and thread made from recycled fishing nets and other environmentally friendly sources. In spite of this, any business founded by Kelly Slater is fundamentally a surf business, and Outerknown has since established a good reputation through supporting a number of world tour competitions. A women's collection was added in 2019 as well. This is also one of the best surf clothing in the world.
