Quiksilver
A well-known company, Quiksilver is mostly renowned for its surfwear, clothing, and other sporting goods. Alan Green and John Law established the business in Torquay, Australia, in the year 1969. Due to its inventive and fashionable boardshort designs, it was first known as "Quiksilver Boardshorts," and it immediately acquired popularity among surfers.
The name of the company was derived from Alan Green and John Law's "Quicksilver," a book that explored the development of surfing. Since snowboarding and surfing are both associated with Quiksilver, the company's emblem includes both a cresting wave and a snow-covered peak.
Quiksilver's success allowed the company to acquire other well-known brands in the action sports industry, such as Roxy (a women's surfwear brand) and DC Shoes (a popular skateboarding footwear and apparel brand).
While Quiksilver experienced significant growth and global recognition, it faced financial challenges in the late 2010s and underwent a bankruptcy restructuring. In 2017, the brand was acquired by Boardriders, Inc., which is the parent company of several other surf and skate brands, including Quiksilver, Roxy, and DC Shoes.
