Port of Darwin
Top 8 in Top 10 Australia's Largest Ports
Darwin is one of the most promising ports in Australia, the gateway to Asia. In 2014, the Chinese company Landbridge took over the port. It has since become an "Australian" trading hub, handling up to 4 million tonnes of cargo per year.
Shipping relations with the US deteriorated for national security reasons after China bought the port. However, this did not prevent the port of Darwin from maintaining its importance in world trade markets or serving as one of Australia's busiest ports.
