Port of Melbourne
Melbourne Harbor is a general cargo port. It is located in Melbourne, Victoria and covers the Yarra Estuary downstream of the Volte Bridge at the beginning of Port Phillip as well as several piers in the bay itself. As of July 1, 2003, the Port of Melbourne is under the control of the Port of Melbourne Corporation, a public corporation established by the State of Victoria.
Also, the Port of Melbourne is one of Australia's most important ports. It is also the fourth-largest container port in the Southern Hemisphere. It was founded in 1835 when John Pascoe Fokner arrived at Enterprise. In 2003, it became Australia's first port to receive up to 2 million TEUs per year. Currently, Melbourne handles over 2.6 million TEUs and around 3,000 vessels per year.
