Protect your eyes from the sun

By protecting your eyes from the sun, you can lessen your chances of developing dry eyes and getting sunburns on your eyelids or the sensitive skin around your eyes. But it doesn't mean that you have to stay inside all day to keep your eyes safe from harmful UV rays. You can prevent damaging impacts on your eyes by wearing the proper sunglasses and shades

When you are exposed to direct sunlight, think about using wraparound sunglasses with ultraviolet (UV) protection. To help prevent wind and dry air, safety shields can also be added to the sides of eyewear. Here are some tips for you:

  • Always use quality sunglasses that protect you from all UV radiation, at least 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
  • Keep a three-inch area of shade around your face and protect your eyes by wearing hats or using environmental aids like a sunshade or umbrella. Pay attention to how much time you spend in the glare.
  • Keep an eye on things like cloud cover, altitude, reflection, and the time of day to avoid spending too much time in very strong sunlight.
