Reveillon Rio de Janeiro
Reveillon, or New Year's Eve, is extensively celebrated throughout Brazil, but today we bring you to Rio de Janeiro, where the event is celebrated the most vibrantly and loudly. Rio de Janeiro's Reveillon is held on Copacabana Beach and is one of the top things to do in Brazil. The party starts early in the evening when bands take the stage, and at midnight, spectators are treated to a stunning fireworks display that lasts around 20 minutes.
The Festa de Iemanja (Goddess of the Sea), when guests dress in white and send their pleas into the sea on little boats, is one of the primary activities held during Reveillon. If the goddess is satisfied, the requests are borne by the waves; if the petitions are returned, the wishes are said to be unfulfilled.
