Rihanna's third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), featured dance-pop elements and cemented her position as a sex symbol in the music industry. Rihanna received her first Grammy Award for the chart-topping track "Umbrella", which launched her to worldwide fame. Following her departure from Def Jam, her eighth album, Anti (2016), demonstrated a new level of creative autonomy. It was her second number-one album in the US, and it featured the number-one hit "Work".

Rihanna is the world's best-selling female music artist, with over 250 million albums sold globally. In the United States, she has 14 number ones and 31 top 10 singles, as well as 30 top ten entries in the United Kingdom.
