Selena Gomez is a singer, songwriter, and actor from the United States. Gomez made her acting debut on the children's television show Barney & Friends (2002–2004). She gained notoriety as Alex Russo in the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place during her adolescence (2007–2012). Through her production firm, July Moonhead Productions, Gomez executive produced the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019). Selena Gomez & the Scene released three albums, all of which charted in the top ten on the US Billboard 200 and were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America: Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011). Revelación (2021), a Spanish-language EP she also published, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. On the US Billboard Hot 100, many of Gomez's hits have peaked in the top ten. She has a particular, low voice that stands out in many of her songs.

She has received many accolades, including being named Woman of the Year by Billboard in 2017. She was ranked among the top 100 most powerful persons in the world by Time magazine in 2020. She is the most popular artist and actor on Instagram and has a huge social media following. Gomez also owns apparel, accessory, fragrance, and cosmetics lines. Since the age of 17, she has worked with several charitable organizations and served as a UNICEF ambassador.
