Saimdang, Bitui Ilgi is a South Korean drama. It stars Lee Young-ae, and Song Seung-heon. Beginning January 26, 2017, it aired on SBS every Wednesday and Thursday at 22:00 (KST). The series marks Lee's television comeback 14 years after her pan-Asia hit drama Dae Jang Geum (2003).


Lee Young-ae portrays Shin Saimdang, a well-known Joseon-era artist and calligrapher from the early 16th century. The drama was inspired by the Joseon Dynasty book Memoirs of Lady Jo of Pungyang, according to writer Park Eun-ryung. Lee Young-ae was nominated for Top Excellence Award for Actress at the 25th SBS Drama Awards. The drama's distribution rights have reportedly been purchased by companies in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, and Sri Lanka.
