Saltinho

Saltinho is a small town in southern Guinea-Bissau. Its name derives from the rapids with which the Rio Corubal jumps over the rock formations here. It is 175 km southeast of the capital Bissau and belongs to the administrative region of Xitole in the southern Bafatá region.

The Saltinho is a short stretch of river that flows through the heart of pristine woods near the town of Mampatá, about 30 kilometers from the capital Bissau. Silhouette of an arched steel bridge against a fiery red sky.

Canoes laden with curvaceous native fisher were moving side to side on the stream. The highlight has to be the Saltinho Waterfalls, which cascade down a series of escarpments - all quite spectacular! These are some of the best places to visit in Guinea-Bissau.
