Varela
Varela is a beautiful stretch of coastline in the country's northernmost National Park and a must-see. And for another good reason. It is one of the best places to visit in Guinea-Bissau. Bluewater, quiet and comfortable. It beckons you to take a dip immediately upon arrival, and it is difficult to leave the sea.
Along the beach, you'll come to a lagoon where water lilies, pelicans, and dozens of species of birds live in complete silence, interrupted only by their songs.
You will discover the true beauty and peace that only places are still intact and in a state of almost untouched nature can offer. Between the sea and the lagoon, you will find a stretch of white sand where you want to lie down, disconnect from social media and phones, look around and express gratitude for the abundant beauty and positive energy radiating from its beautiful and unique land called Guinea-Bissau.
Location: Southeast of Nhiquim, and west of Catão Joninque
