An American author, poet, cartoonist, singer, and dramatist with the name of Sheldon Allan Silverstein. Silverstein, who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, briefly studied at a university before getting enlisted in the American Army. Silverstein did not only write for children, despite the fact that his children's books are among his best-known works.

The Giving Tree and other children's stories are among Shel Silverstein's best-known works. Being one of the most intimidating-looking children's authors of all time may have made him less well known. But he wrote more than that. Silverstein wrote country music when he was in a more lyrical mood. The Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash, memorialized his most well-known song.

Author of the renowned A Boy Named Sue, Silverstein. Although Silverstein's song ultimately won a Grammy, it wasn't his sole musical endeavor. Boa Constrictor and 25 Minutes To Go were also performed by Cash. He co-wrote The Taker with Kris Kristofferson for Waylon Jennings. Among other songs, Silverstein was featured on Queen of the Silver Dollar by Emmylou Harris and One's the Way by Loretta Lynn.
