Shirley MacLaine
Shirley MacLaine (born Shirley MacLean Beaty on April 24, 1934) is an actress, singer, author, activist, and former dancer from the United States. MacLaine is most known for her depictions of quirky, headstrong, and eccentric women, and she has garnered several awards over the course of her seven-decade career, including an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, two British Academy Film Awards, and six Golden Globe Awards.
Shirley MacLaine was such a diverse performer that the Golden Globes developed a special award in 1959 honoring her as the most versatile actress. She was one of those rare performers who could actually do anything, earning six Oscar nominations in her long career until ultimately winning one for 1983's "Terms of Endearment". Whether it was tragedies like "Some Came Running" in 1958, comedies like "The Apartment" in 1960, or romantic pictures like "Irma la Douce" in 1963, MacLaine was up for any role. She finally received lifetime achievement awards from the Golden Globes and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
