Similan Islands, Thailand

Around 84 km northwest of Phuket, Similan Islands is one of the best-known island groups in the Andaman Sea Ecological Zone, part of Phang Nga province, beautiful southern Thailand. In 1982, Similan was recognized as a national park. Its name is derived from Malay, including nine small islands starting from North to South: Koh Ba Ngu, Koh Similan, Koh Payu, Koh Hok, Koh Ha, Koh Miang, Koh Payan, Koh Payong, and Koh Huyong.


At first glance, these islands look like the huge boulders that litter the western and southern shores on several of the islands, stand out with the white coral-sand beaches, splendidly picturesque and often deserted. Similan Islands has an indescribable beauty because the marine ecosystem is rich, flora and fauna under the sea are diverse. All islands are surrounded by dense tropical forests with white sandy beaches, so Similan retains its original wild charm.


Annual, the Similan Islands are open to visitors for about six months, from November 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the following year to preserve national heritage. Similan is sunny all year round, and the temperature is as high as in summer. The coldest days are not less than 25 degrees Celsius. That's why during the opening time you can come at any time. However, according to experience and research, the best ideal time to travel here is from late February to mid-March. At that time, Similan has little rain, the weather is not too hot, so it is very convenient for the recreational activities of tourists.
