Snapple
Snapple, a popular brand of tea and juice drinks, was founded by Leonard Marsh, Hyman Golden, and Arnold Greenberg in 1972. The original producer of Snapple was a company known as Unadulterated Food Products. The founders initially conceived it as a part-time venture to supply fruit juices to health food stores.
The name “Snapple” came from one of their early apple juice products. A batch of this juice fermented in the bottle, causing the bottle caps to fly off. This incident led to the product being named “Snapple”, a portmanteau derived from the words ‘snappy’ and 'apple’.
Over time, Snapple expanded its product line. It did not manufacture its first tea, lemon tea, until 1987. As of 2016, Snapple offers many different types of beverages: tea (multiple flavors), juice drinks, lemonade, and bottled water.
Snapple’s brand slogan is "Made from the Best Stuff on Earth". The brand achieved fame due to various pop-culture references and a popular series of TV advertisements in the early 1990s featuring Wendy Kaufman (the “Snapple Lady”) answering letters from Snapple fans.
