Spider-Man: The Video Game

The game was launched as a coin-op arcade title using Sega System 32 hardware. The game may be played as a single-person game or collaboratively by up to four players. Each character has the ability to perform a specific maneuver connected to their superpower that depletes their health. As the camera zooms to a far-away perspective of the characters in tiny, the game transitions from a side-scrolling beat 'em up to a platform game. Later, it zooms back in to show the considerably bigger and more detailed figures continuing the battle.

The game was separated into four acts, each of which included a different villain, such as Kingpin, Venom and his symbiote clones, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Lizard, Scorpion, Sandman, Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, and ultimately Doctor Doom. High scores are split per character, therefore a high score for Spider-Man could not be the same as a high score for Hawkeye or Black Cat. The music of Spider-Man: The Video Game also includes songs from Sega's 1986 arcade game Quartet, most notably "Oki Rap" and "FM Funk" (for instance, "FM Funk" appears in the second stage in Spider-Man, while it is featured in the third stage of Quartet).
