Ultimate Spider-Man
Ultimate Spider-Man is a 2005 action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the corresponding comic book. In September 2005, Activision released the game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Microsoft Windows, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, and Nintendo DS. Treyarch created the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions, which are vastly different from the portable versions created by Vicarious Visions.
Ultimate Spider-Man is a third-person action-adventure video game set in a Manhattan and Queens-based open environment. To continue through the plot, players assume the character of Spider-Man or Venom and accomplish missions (linear situations with predefined goals). In narrative mode, the player may only free roam as Spider-Man, and the game automatically alternates between Spider-Man and Venom throughout missions. After completing the main tale, the player can swap between the two characters at any time.
The two characters play quite differently. Spider-Man is more nimble and utilizes webs to navigate across the city, with the ability to web swing or web zip. Similar to Spider-Man 2, the player must approach buildings and manually attach webs to them. Spider-Man can also use his webs to immobilize foes for a few seconds before catching and flinging them about. Once an adversary is down, the player must swiftly web them in order to permanently immobilize them; otherwise, they will rise up and continue fighting Spider-Man.
