Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Star Trek Into Darkness is a 2013 American science fiction action film directed by J. J. Abrams. On May 16, the film premiered in IMAX theaters across the United States and Canada, followed by standard-format theatres the next day. Into Darkness was a box office hit and earned good reviews from reviewers. It is the highest-grossing entry in the Star Trek franchise, with nearly $467 million in worldwide box office revenues. At the 86th Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best Visual Effects.

After an act of terrorism inside Starfleet destroys most of Starfleet and all it symbolizes, the crew of the Starship Enterprise goes home, leaving Earth in a state of crisis. Capt. James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) leads his crew (Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana) on a mission to capture a one-man weapon of mass devastation, plunging them all into an epic game of life and death.
