Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Thor: Ragnarok is a 2017 American superhero film directed by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. It is the 17th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the sequel to Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013) (MCU). In the film, Thor is imprisoned on the planet Sakaar and must return to Asgard in time to prevent Ragnarök, the destruction of his world, at the hands of the powerful and merciless monster Hela.
The film got positive reviews for its acting and direction by Taika Waititi, as well as the action sequences and humor, with many critics hailing it as the best of the Thor films. It earned $854 million, making it the trilogy's highest-grossing film and the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2017. Thor: Love and Thunder, the sequel, will be released on July 8, 2022.
