Sub in a tub
Submarine sandwiches contain a lot of carbs. The majority of the carbs in a typical sub, which are at least 50 grams, come from the bread. You may avoid more than 40 grams of carbs by ordering your sub "in a tub" (in a bowl or container), rather than on a bun.
Substitute subs in a tub may have the following carb counts:
- Turkey breast and provolone: 8 grams of carbs, 1 of which is fiber
- Club supreme: 11 grams of carbs, 2 of which are fiber
- Chicken salad: 9 grams of carbs, 3 of which are fiber
- California club: 9 grams of carbs, 4 of which are fiber
Although Jersey Mike's is where the phrase "sub in a tub" first originated, any sub sandwich shop, including Subway, accepts this order. Just request for it to be prepared as a salad with vinegar and olive oil for the dressing.
