Sunrise
Former members of Mushi Production strike out on their own and found Soeisha, an anime production firm. Production of animation starts in September 1972. Soeisha establishes Sunrise Studio Limited as a production facility. Te studio co-creates shows with Toei, Tsuburaya Productions, and other businesses.
"HAZEDON" (Tohokushinsha), Sunrise's first animated production, premieres in October 1972.
With more than 10 separate studios working on individual projects, Sunrise is one of the biggest and most well-known animation firms in the industry. Sunrise produces a huge variety of anime, many of which are popular with the general population.
At first, Sunrise concentrated on a single genre: mecha anime. They are to blame for the Mobile Suit Gundam series' popularity. Also, they contributed to well-known anime with a mecha theme like Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass.
