Sushi Bar Maumi

At this elegant 10-seat omakase restaurant, you can travel to Japan without leaving Canada. This intimate spot serves some of the best sushi in Vancouver and is set up in the traditional style, with all seats facing the chef. They only offer two services per night, and reservations for the Chef's omakase – 11 pieces specially selected by Chef Maumi Ozaki and prepared in front of you – may be required weeks in advance. Following omakase, you can order okonomi (your choice). There are no rolls here, only nigiri sushi. Five days a week, they import fresh fish from Japan, so you can expect toro, bafan uni, tamago, prawn, aji, and flying squid.

Before your trip to Maumi, make sure to be aware of their house rules: ”…we ask our customers to turn off their phones, talk quietly, avoid wearing strong perfume or cologne and be respectful of the environment and the people around them for a richer and more enjoyable experience.” Maumi also only services adults.
