Tagaytay
Tagaytay, which is an hour's drive from Manila, is distinguished by its commanding views of Taal Volcano, the world's smallest volcano. Although Taal Volcano isn't exactly in Tagaytay, the town's elevation makes it the ideal place to view this well-known mountain. Another option is to trek up the volcano and cross the lake by boat for a better view.
Tagaytay is a well-liked destination for locals to go away from the city and breathe in some fresh air because of its cooler temperatures and beautiful natural surroundings. Picnics, biking, and horseback riding are all common pastimes in this area.
According to legend, the words "Tagaytay" and "itáy," which both imply father, were combined to form the name. According to legend, a father and son were hunting wild boar when the animal they were pursuing turned and attacked them. The son yelled, "Tagâ, Itáy!" as the boar charged at the elderly man. The boy's repeated yell echoed through the ridge's lanes. The shouts were heard by the locals, hunters, and wood gatherers, and they became the topic of conversation throughout the countryside for several days. The location of the yells eventually became known as Tagaytay. [6] The city's name is most likely derived from the Tagalog word "tagaytay," which signifies ridge.
