Taxi

Taxi is a comedy that ran on ABC from September 12, 1978, to May 6, 1982, then on NBC from September 30, 1982, to June 15, 1983. The show is set in the fictional Sunshine Cab Firm's fleet garage in Manhattan, and it follows the employees of the company. It focuses on the lives of a group of New York City cab drivers and their abusive dispatchers on a daily basis.

Taxi was produced by the John Charles Walters Company in collaboration with Paramount Network Television. The show was a smash hit, receiving 31 Emmy nominations and winning 13, including three years in a row for Outstanding Comedy. After falling out of favor with ABC in season 4, it was picked up by NBC for one more season before being canceled permanently in 1983.
