The Borders Distillery
The Scottish Borders now have its first distillery since 1837, called The Borders Distillery. A variety of spirits, including Kerr's Borders Gin, Puffing Billy Steam Vodka, and Workshop Series Whisky Blends, are produced there using locally farmed barley since it debuted in March 2018.
Puffing Billy Steam Vodka is a distinctive vodka that is never filtered and steam-smoothed. The Carterhead Still, which was particularly commissioned to produce it, bears its name. Malted barley is used to make the vodka, which is then distilled, preserving some of the original flavors and fragrances of the grain. With flavors of vanilla, honey, and cereal, it has a silky, creamy texture.
You can sip Puffing Billy Steam Vodka alone, on the rocks, or combined with your preferred gin or soda. It also goes nicely with berries, ginger, and citrus fruits. Additionally, you can use it to mix drinks like a Moscow Mule, Vodka Martini, or Bloody Mary.
Depending on the market and the store, Puffing Billy Steam Vodka's pricing range fluctuates. Online sources claim that a 70cl bottle costs roughly £35 in the UK while a 700ml bottle costs about €40 in Europe.
