The Friendliness of the Spanish People

The majority of the Spanish people are friendly towards visitors and do not resent tourists. They go out of their way to help visitors. Perhaps this is the key to Spain's tourism industry's explosive expansion. Travelers won't visit nations that dislike them. They select nations where they will be respected and treated with kindness.

Spanish hospitality has a long history, and visitors are always welcomed and given food and drink. A prime example is the little, white hamlet of Frigiliana, located close to Nerja, which has repeatedly been named Spain's most picturesque village. On May 3, the town holds its annual Cruz de Mayo festival, during which time anybody visiting is given free food and its delicious sweet wine. On each street, tables are set up, and locals provide food and wine to any and all passersby.

It is understandable why several hundred thousand immigrants from northern Europe have relocated to Spain's Mediterranean coastlines, including Alicante and the Costa del Sol, where they may live in idyllic settings with welcoming locals.
