Vibrant villages

Southern Spain is a traveler's dream with gorgeous beaches, amazing landscapes, and excellent weather. However, one feature that is sometimes disregarded is the stunning whitewashed towns and villages that dot the rough Andalucian slopes. Many of these hidden jewels, which were once farming and fishing communities, fell into ruin over time but have recently been brought back to life by locals and tourists who have found their charm. These lively villages are a charming attraction in and of themselves, with everything from cute, cobblestone alleys and whitewashed cottages to pretty ruins and cathedrals. Despite recent growth in tourist numbers, they have managed to maintain their historic appeal for the time being.

One of the top recommendations is the lovely village of Frigiliana, which is frequently named one of Spain's prettiest. Frigiliana, which is only a few kilometers from Nerja, is well known for its charming cobbled alleys, delectable cuisine, and exquisite arts and crafts. Visitors to the area can take part in authentic experiences like stopping by one of the family-run bodegas to sample the unique dessert wine produced in the area while savoring regional delicacies like fig bread and sugarcane honey. Of course, visiting La Alhambra, an amazing fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the highlights of visiting Andaluca.
