The King's Woman
Chinese historical romantic drama series "The King's Woman" debuted in 2017. The Warring States period of ancient China is the setting for the drama, which is based on the Wen Shiren novel "The Legend of Qin: Li Ji Story."
The plot centers on the relationship between Ying Zheng, the king of the kingdom of Qin, and Li Ji, a princess from the state of Liang. As a political captive, Li Ji is dispatched to Qin, where she becomes embroiled in the intrigues and power plays of the Qin court. As she makes her way through the perilous political scene, she also learns about her own secret abilities and qualities.
Li Huizhu directed the play, while Yu Zheng, who is credited with producing "Story of Yanxi Palace" and a number of other well-known historical dramas in China, produced it. Dilraba Dilmurat plays Li Ji in the drama, and Zhang Binbin plays Ying Zheng. It received plaudits for its exquisite cinematography, complex storyline, and potent performances by the key actors.
"The King's Woman" earned positive reviews from Chinese audiences and grew in popularity elsewhere. The music, which was composed by the celebrated composer Hua Er and included a number of well-known Chinese pop tunes, was equally noteworthy.
