The Little Mermaid (1989)
The Little Mermaid is a 1989 film based on Hans Christian Andersen's 19th-century Danish fairy tale. It is also one of the best princess movies. The film opens with the introduction of King Triton and Queen Athena's youngest daughter, Ariel, a mermaid who lives in the underwater country of Atlantica.
Ariel is the first non-human Disney Princess, and she falls in love with Eric, a human. The personality features of Ariel in The Little Mermaid earned mixed reviews, although "Under the Sea" is undeniably memorable. In 2023, Disney plans to release a live-action adaptation.
