The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride is a fantasy/adventure film with several hilarious comedic moments. This 1987 film directed by Rob Reiner stars Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, and Robin Wright and is based on William Goldman's book of the same name.
The Princess Bride is a narrative inside a story, told through the eyes of a grandpa to his ailing grandson. It begins with meeting Buttercup, a young woman, and Westley, a farmhand, who eventually falls in love with one other. Westley needs to make his own money in order to marry Buttercup, so he travels out on a ship to accomplish it. Years later, Buttercup is forced to marry the haughty and disagreeable Prince Humperdinck, but she is abducted by a small band of outlaws before the wedding. The gang is pursued by Prince Humperdinck and his guards, as well as a masked guy clad entirely in black. Despite eluding Prince Humperdinck, the outlaws are apprehended by the masked man, who battles and outwits each of the outlaws until he is alone with Buttercup.
If you enjoy your travels with a touch of romance, go no further than The Princess Bride. This fantasy adventure picture is also hilarious, which is why it was admitted into the National Film Registry in 2016 for its cultural value.
