Tim Miller

Tim Miller is an American yoga instructor and author of the book Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Tim Miller earned his bachelor's degree in Eastern psychology and philosophy from the University of California, Riverside. Tim Miller, a master yoga instructor, has studied and taught Ashtanga Yoga for over thirty years. When he met Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Encinitas, California in 1978, he had only been practicing yoga for eight months. Tim studied with Guruji in India and became the first American Jois qualified to teach at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India.

Tim has been the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Center in southern California since 1981, where he offers seminars and retreats around the United States and overseas. He has been a regular contributor to Yoga Journal since its inception in May 1996 and has lectured at their first conference. Tim was recognized as "One of the Ten Influential Teachers Who Shaped Yoga in America" by Yoga and Sonima Magazine in February 2016.

Tim possesses a deep understanding of this old discipline, which he shares in a dynamic, yet compassionate, and playful manner. "As a teacher, my goal is to instill a love of practice in my students." The real teacher is the practice itself when done consistently and correctly.
