The 82-year-old singer's spouse, a native of Germany, told the local daily Daily Handelszeitung that the transfer was made after they both gained Swiss citizenship. "In Switzerland, [we] feel really at ease," Bach remarked. "Unfortunately, we, like many other Swiss, are unable to travel because of the epidemic and its effects." They plan to use the 240,000-square-foot estate as a "new weekend hideaway in the immediate neighborhood," according to Bach. A private pond, stream, swimming pool, and boat dock are among the estate's features. For years, the two rented a house near Kuesnacht, outside of Zürich, known as Chateau Algonquin, until they were granted Swiss citizenship.
