Tinian Hot Pepper Festival
The largest celebration on the little island of Tinian takes place on Tachogna Beach over two days in February. Many of the Northern Mariana Islands' most skilled vocalists entertain visitors, who can try homemade delicacies cooked by some of Tinian's most talented chefs.
The festival's main attraction is the hot pepper eating competition, in which participants compete to determine who can handle Tinian's famous donni sali hot peppers the best. The Katdun Pika Cooking Competition rewards chefs who create the most delectable dishes with this unusual ingredient.
