Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise, an American actor and producer, was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV on July 3, 1962; he went by the stage name Tom Cruise. Thomas is one of the highest-paid actors in the world and has won numerous accolades, including three Golden Globes, an Honorary Palme d'Or, and other honors. He has also received three Academy Award nominations. Thomas is one of the most well-known actors in movie history, having earned more than $4 billion in North America and over $11.1 billion globally.
When Cruise initially started acting in the 1980s, he got breakout roles in the comedies Risky Business and Top Gun. He garnered positive acclaim from critics for his performances in the dramas Born on the Fourth of July, The Color of Money, and Rain Man.
For his portrayal of Ron Kovic in the latter, he received nominations for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He was also a well-known Hollywood actor in the 1990s who starred in a number of commercially successful films, including the drama A Few Good Men (1992) and the thriller The Firm (1993), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor and his second Academy Award nomination.
