Umeå University
Ume University is a public research university in Ume, Sweden, in the country's mid-northern region. The university was established in 1965 and is currently Sweden's fifth oldest.
Ume University has more than 36,000 registered students (approximately 16,000 full-time students) as of 2015, including postgraduate and doctoral students. It employs over 4,000 people, half of whom are teachers, researchers, or professors, including 310 professors.
The university is well-known internationally for studies on the genomes of the poplar tree and the Norway Spruce, as well as its highly regarded Institute of (industrial) Design.
There are four faculties and eight campus schools, as well as more than 20 research centers and 36 departments at the institution. The main campus and Ume Arts Campus in Ume are home to the majority of education and research, with additional campuses in Skellefte and rnsköldsvik. Over 34,000 students have enrolled in some of the 50 distinct study programs and 800 different courses. Today, the university comprises four faculties, one of which are the Faculty of Arts, School of Medicine, Science and Technology Faculty, Social Sciences Faculty.
