At 346 years old, Universidad de San Carlos De Guatemala (USAC) is Guatemala's largest and oldest university as well as one of the best universities in Guatemala, located in Guatemala City, the country's capital. USAC is a public university with eight schools, 11 faculties, 18 campuses, three institutes, a postgraduate system, and a student body of over 200,000. The University shares its research in various fields, collaborates in studies and problem solving for national issues, and works to transform society through educational media. USAC is dedicated to the advancement of science, society, humanitarianism, and the environment.

As the sole state university, it is exclusively responsible for the direction, organization, and development of state education as well as the dissemination of culture in all of its forms. It will promote research in all fields of human knowledge using all available means and will collaborate in the study and resolution of national problems. Its primary goal is to raise the spiritual level of the Republic's citizens by preserving, promoting, and disseminating culture and scientific knowledge.
