Universidad del Valle de Guatemala
The Universidad del Valle de Guatemala was founded in 1966 as an initiative of the Association of the American School of Guatemala (CAG), an entity formed by a group of parents, with the goal of providing higher education through modern pedagogical techniques that guarantee high educational quality with high civic and ethical criteria.
Since its inception, the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) has aimed to be an active force in the development of higher education as a cutting-edge institution that encourages experimentation in teaching methods and organizational systems, as well as conducting extensive research and training highly qualified people for educational development.
The UVG started with six students and now has over 4,000 in three locations (Guatemala, Escuintla, and Sololá).
Universidad del Valle has been described as an institution that strives for academic excellence while maintaining values and criteria of assistance for all students through financial aid and scholarship programs for talented young people with limited resources.
