Universidad del Istmo
The Universidad del Istmo (UNIS) is a private Guatemalan university, created in 1997 and authorized by the Council of Higher Private Education in September of the same year, adding to its history the support of the experience of more than three decades owned by the Women's Institute of Higher Studies (IFES). The university's mission is to transform higher education development through research, internationalization, technological innovation, and accessibility, as well as through long-term quality actions.
Among its main objectives is to contribute to the academic, cultural and personal training of its students; promote applied research to solve problems of society; offer development opportunities to its teachers and employees; and carry out extensive work of cultural dissemination and social promotion, with a clear purpose of service. Currently, the university is focusing on its students' labor insertion by listening to the country's employer sectors, such as private companies and the public sector, so that professionals can be taught in the areas that the labor sector requires, ensuring employability.
