University of the Valley of Guatemala

The Association of the American College of Guatemala founded the University of the Valley of Guatemala (UVG) in 1966. It is a leading university in terms of technological advancement and high-quality research. The university had only one central campus in Guatemala when it first started, but it has since grown. It established a second campus in Santa Luca Cotzumalguapa, a town in Escuintla, in 1995. In 1996, a new campus was established in the western Guatemalan city of Sololá.

Engineering, education, social studies, and sciences and humanities are among the university's four faculties. Students can choose from more than 70 undergraduate courses and 20 graduate programs to pursue. The university's student life is very important. UVG hosts cultural weeks, concerts, and organized workshops for students throughout the year. There are a variety of student organizations and clubs that cater to a variety of interests, including art, culture, leadership, and sports. Basketball, jazz, and theater are just a few of the clubs available.

UVG's Research Institute, which was founded in 1977, is another important part of the university. It now has 11 study centers that collaborate with various university departments, as well as 21 specialized laboratories. Students are given the opportunity to participate in research projects using the university's cutting-edge facilities. The Research Institute at the university produces the most scientific research of any private university in Central America. As a result, it receives half of the country's research funding.
