University of Eastern Finland
Itä-Suomen yliopisto (University of Eastern Finland) is a university in Finland with campuses in Joensuu and Kuopio. It was founded in 2010 as a result of the amalgamation of two formerly separate universities. The Board, the Rector and the Academic Rector, the Institution Collegiate Body, the Faculty Councils, and the Deans run the University of Eastern Finland, which is a public university. University Services is in charge of the university's day-to-day administrative activities. Eastern Finland University is an interdisciplinary institution.
Nearly 100 major courses and degree programs are taught at the UEF's four faculties. The university's yearly student intake is around 2,200, and nearly 24 000 applications for admission are received each year. Pharmacy, dentistry, humanities, education, economics and business administration, natural sciences, medicine, forest sciences, psychology, theology, health sciences, social sciences, and law are among the 13 subjects of study offered by the institution.
