Walcher Waterfall
The Walcher Waterfall (also known as the Walcherfall) is a strikingly tall series of cascades that cascades down a mountainside not far from Ferleiten's toll booths on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
About 520 meters of the Walcherbach stream flow down the mountain in five major falls. It is located in the Hohe Tauern National Park close to the settlement of Ferleiten and the toll booths for the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
From the parking lot, a clearly designated trail ascends steeply to the alpine meadows above the falls. Unfortunately, the path was closed when we arrived, so we were unable to hike it. The trail goes behind one of the falls at one point. Most visitors to this waterfall come between the months of June and August when the flow is at its peak and it is a sight to behold.
From a parking space near Ferleiten, where you can access the first section of the waterfall, you can walk to Walcher Waterfall on foot. After that, you can continue on the trails to the other parts of the waterfall. It takes 3–4 hours to complete the journey. However, if you still have some free time, you can consider going to the nearby Wildpark Ferleiten, where you can observe a variety of fascinating natural landmarks.
