Warren Edward Buffett
Warren Edward Buffett was born on August 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, United States, is an American great investor, businessman and philanthropist. He is the world's most successful investor, largest shareholder and director of Berkshire Hathaway, and is ranked by Forbes magazine as the sixth-richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $96 billion.
He is known as the "Legend of Omaha" or "The Sage of Omaha", very well known for his steadfastness in the philosophy of value investing as well as his frugal lifestyle despite his huge wealth. For example, his salary in 2006 was only 100,000 USD, a very small number compared to managers at companies of the same size as Berkshire Hathaway; and in 2007 and 2008, he only received a total of 170,000 USD each year, of which the basic salary was 100,000. He now lives in a home he bought in 1958 in Omaha for $31,500 (now worth about $700,000), although he also owns another $4 million home in Laguna Beach, California. In 1989, he used $9.7 million of Berkshire's budget to buy a private-class jet and jokingly named it "The Indefensible" because he used to criticize the directors of any airline for doing so.
