Wave Hill
Wave Hill is one of the best art day trips from NYC. At Wave Hill, artists find themselves in dialogue with nature through residencies and programs, exhibitions, outdoor sculpture, performances, and concerts for the public. Wave Hill is a 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx with views of the Hudson River and Palisades. It features a formal garden, a superb stand of pines, and a hiking track that winds through the forest. However, there is also art, which can be seen in the Glyndor Gallery, the main area of Wave Hill, or on the premises. There are also more exhibition spaces, such as Wave Hill House and the Sunroom Project Space. Exhibitions dealing with contemporary topics are presented in Glyndor Gallery, Wave Hill House, and the grounds. their art-incubator programs, the Sunroom Project Space and Winter Workspace residency, support emerging and mid-career artists by providing them unique opportunities to create new work.
Wave Hill’s year-round performances focus on creating a diverse and innovative series in an extraordinary environment. Hosted in multiple locations indoors and outdoors, the exquisite scenery creates inspiring and thought-provoking experiences for artists and audiences. Through an annual open call, artist applications are reviewed by curatorial staff and considered for exhibitions, concerts, performances, and commissions.
