Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a romantic comedy anime series about four otakus who have entered the adult world and taken on significant duties, including anime, manga, and video game enthusiasts and office workers. The plot revolves around Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji, two childhood pals.

Hirotaka Nifuji is obsessed with creating the perfect video game character. Similarly, Narumi Momose is a fujoshi who enjoys manga. Hanako Koyanagi and Tarou Kabakura, their two other coworkers, each have their own otaku niche. They go on movie dates, drink after work, and casually discuss their interests without fear of being mocked for their "childish" or "immature" inclinations.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a realistic and relevant depiction of adult otaku. That it demonstrates that adult otaku's lifestyles are not all that different from the rest of us. And this is due in part to the natural chemistry between characters, whether romantic or just friendly and platonic. It discusses office romance, juggling work and leisure, and accepting one's own interests. Viewers enjoy the show's wit and uplifting moments.
