Zermatt

Zermatt is one of the most well-known destinations in Switzerland, and it is perhaps the most well-known Swiss hamlet and skiing resort. It has everything: iconic timber architecture, several hiking paths, mountain stations, the famed Glacier wonderland, and, most importantly, the Matterhorn peak. That is quite the show.

Once in Zermatt, you must visit Glacier Paradise, Europe's highest mountain station at 3883 meters in height, where you can see the glacier, Matterhorn, and even Mont Blanc in France. There is a restaurant, a museum, and a variety of other things available there. Want to go skiing? That is already achievable in the fall. You may still make a magnificent climb to the famed Gornergrat in early October - it will take up to 4 hours, but the vistas will stay with you forever.

There are just two alternatives for getting to this location: by rail or by foot. The first option is to go by train, and you may do so by boarding a train that is part of the Swiss rail network. If you have a Swiss travel pass, you may easily board any train in the network. If you do not have a pass, you should research the train's timetable and price before purchasing tickets.
