Sit down at the Select Oyster Bar counter to savor some of the best shellfish available. Slurp down those delicious oysters among other seafood tower specialties like dressed Maine lobster and shrimp cocktail. The comprehensive wine list is filled with grapes that pair well with oysters, from a crisp, sparkling brut rosé to a dry, acidic txakolina. Select is perfect for a full, multicourse meal, but it's also great if you simply want to stop over for a few cocktails and oysters.


    Seafood enthusiasts are drawn to chef-partner Michael Serpa's first solo venture, a townhouse-like enclave in the Back Bay. Michael Serpa was formerly of Neptune Oyster. East and West Coast oysters, peekytoe crab salad, dressed Maine lobster, and more can be found on the excellent raw bar menu. (Celebrations choose to provide lavish seafood towers.) The famous blue prawns a la plancha and "taverna style," entire roasted sea bream are the clearest examples of how the menu frequently combines New England seafood with Mediterranean cooking methods.     At this Fort Point establishment from Jeremy Sewall and the crew behind Island Creek Oyster Bar, exceptionally fresh seafood is the name of the game. Sewall's grandmother's recipe for hot and cold lobster rolls is featured on the menu, along with cider-steamed mussels, fried oysters, Maine crab cakes, and both hot and cold oysters. Fresh oysters are obtained from the oyster beds in Wellfleet, Duxbury, Plymouth, Chatham, and other nearby locations. The staff at Row 34 is just as passionate about beer as they are about oysters, so make sure to order whatever is suggested from the selection of rare, local, and small-batch craft beers that are currently on tap.

    Ostra serves up a variety of elegant seafood from its busy junction where the Back Bay meets the Theatre District. The superb menu has Mediterranean influences throughout, and there are many pricey options available (including caviar service and three-pound lobsters), making it ideal for celebratory business dinners and special occasions.


    Oysters are a staple of the seafood menu at this Back Bay restaurant. You'll notice right away that Ostra's white-tableclothed dining area isn't exactly the spot to locate dollar oyster deals. The place to indulge on premium daily shellfish specials, including several species of your favorite briney bivalves, is however. Here, you can get oysters by the half-dozen, and they will be served with house-made horseradish cocktail sauce, sparkling mignonette, and fresh lemon. Get a plate of tartare, whether it's made of yellowfin tuna, salmon, or sea bass for additional raw entertainment.

But Saltie Girl is fairly traditional with its raw bar menu. For a heartier snack, add some tinned fish to the mixture.     For those who would assert they've tried it all when it comes to seafood, Saltie Girl consistently reinvents the old favorites. Warm buttered lobster rolls, Ipswich fried clams, and thick, bacon-kissed clam chowder are all deserving of the wait for a booth or bar seat within the cramped townhouse setting. Next comes the tantalizing fried lobster and waffles meal, which is accompanied by sweet corn butter and hot maple syrup.
